Theatre Arts I & II

Course Description

Theatre Arts I & II help the student develop cooperation, trust, responsibility, courtesy, creativity, and critical thinking skills. During the course, the student will develop expressive use of the body and voice, explore artistic concepts and skills, theatre history's influence on society, play structure and its analysis, experiment with the skills of stagecraft - makeup, set design, and lighting, participate in an actual production to form an aesthetic appreciation of theatrical works or live performances.

Cole, we've an exciting year for the Theatre and Speaking Arts this year! Let's welcome Mr. James Reyes as the new M.S. Theatre Arts/Speech Teacher.

NEWS!

The UIL One Act Play, "I Hate Hamlet" by Paul Rudnick, is on its way to bi-district this April 2nd in Lago Vista. It seems the judge loved comedy, romance, and a dash of swashbuckling. Our debaters faired well this year with three teams sweeping the UIL CX District meet and two qualifying for State competition March 14 - 15th. The individual events - Oral Interpretation & Extemporaneous Speech added to our district total reaching 132 pts. Prose Interpretation qualified for Regional. All in all, a very successful UIL season.
