Fort Sam Houston ISD acknowledges that parents/guardians are the primary sexuality educators for their child/children and we are committed to partnering with you to provide supplementary resources to support you in this role. 

The Texas Education Code requires Fort Sam Houston ISD to notify parents/guardians of children enrolled in prekindergarten through twelfth grade about the district’s human sexuality and abstinence education. The curriculum is fully optional. It is offered to students in grades 8-12 whose parents choose to have their children receive it by providing written permission. The approved curriculum meets applicable guidelines and is taught by certified health instructors through the Health classes in grades 8-12.

Robert G. Cole Middle/High School will offer sexuality education and P.A.P.A. training as part of the overall health education curriculum in grades 8 through 12. The resources used for this curriculum are Wellness & Sexual Health by Scott and White and Parenting and Paternity Awareness Curriculum (P.A.P.A.) by the Texas Office of the Attorney General.
