In the hope that this letter finds you well, I would like to extend my greetings as your child’s Spanish I teacher for the 2016-2017 school year at Robert G. Cole High School under the Fort Sam Houston . The school year has just begun and I look forward to starting off the first term productively.
I graduated from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree of Science in Education, I am an AVID and an IB Spanish Certified Educator since 2008, and I feel privileged to teach your child in this school district. I believe in the mission of preparing every military child for success in college, career and life. I also believe that our district provides excellent programs for all students. Our new school community here at Ft. Sam Houston has everything our teachers need to provide a solid education and everything our students need to succeed.
This year I will be teaching Spanish I and can already tell that I have been given a wonderful group of students who are eager to take on exciting new challenges and understand the commitment and dedication that learning a new language requires.
I believe that learning Spanish is very important and highly useful in tackling today’s job market. Knowing another language will make every student more marketable in today’s economy. Many doors will open to our students as they spend their high school years learning and growing.
I encourage all parents to take part in their child’s program and to email me at any time to discuss questions and concerns.
Yisel McConnell, M.S. Ed.
