Cole Student Makes All-State Band
Congratulations go out to Cole Sophomore Elise Miller who placed 1st chair on oboe at the ATSSB (Association of Texas Small Schools Bands) Area band auditions. This placement earned Elise a place in the ATSSB All-State Band!!! She will be representing Cole at the Texas Music Educator's Association All-State convention in San Antonio from February 8-11. At the conference, Elise will audition once more to determine her place in the all-state oboe section. Way to go, Elise!
Debate Team Excels Again!
Congratulations go out to the members of Cole Debate Squad who excelled at the Blanco H.S. UIL Speech and Debate Invitational Meet. The teams did exceptionally well. In the Novice Division, the team of Lydia Carlile and Tim Sharpe took third place with 210 speaking points. Fifth place was won by the team of Cameron Schmidt and Nicholas Banales with 207 speaker points. The Varsity team of Morgan Oliver and Areli earned 216 speaker points, compared to the winner's 230, and ranked 17th out of 31 teams from 3A, 4A, and 5A schools. Way to Go Cougars!
Boysville Toy Drive a Success
Our Cole community did a fantastic job donating to the Boysville Foster Facility this holiday season. A total of 363 items and $412 dollars in gift cards were donated. The Student Leadership class would like to sincerely thank all of the families, students, faculty/staff members and administrators that participated in this event. Way to go, Cougars!
Students Help Soldier's Angels
The Student Leadership Class and members of the Spanish National Honor Society successfully completed four hours of community service for the holiday season by helping Soldiers' Angels pack 350 care packages, each filled with a personal thank-you letter, for soldiers deployed overseas. Great Job Cougars!
Senora Chacon Receives ExCEL Award
Jo Chacon, Spanish teacher at Robert G. Cole Middle and High School, received the ExCEL Award presented at a ceremony held in her honor on November 29, 2011. Chacon was selected as the Fort Sam Houston ISD recipient for her commitment and passion to education with over 31 years of service. Debra Knapp, KENS5 anchor, served as master of ceremonies, in a gymnasium filled with students and staff. Joining her in the presentation was Sharon Allen, representing the Fort Sam Houston branch of the San Antonio Federal Credit Union (SACU). Read more...

Free Technology Training Online!
The Fort Sam Houston ISD recently purchased a site license with Atomic Learning, an online resource for technology video tutorials. The service provides "as needed" access to over 40,000 video tutorials covering over 120 software applications. In addition to being a great resource for students and teachers, all FSHISD parents can also access the site!
