Welcome to my page. As an English III teacher, I truly enjoy working with students and giving them the opportunities to explore the joys and wonders of American literature. Students read and write about their experiences with literature, which consists of mainly American writers that include Hawthorne, Edwards, Twain and Chopin. In my AP English Language and Composition course, it is all about studying rhetoric and argument. Students rigorously read non-fiction essays, speeches and letters as well as other texts in order to analyze a writer's technique and are also able to develop their skills as writers of argument. Students in my Creative Writing course write, write, and write. This is a class that allows them to improve their writing skills. Although they do have several opportunities to study published writers, mostly British literature, this is the class that gives them time to create their own pieces of writing. They share their ideas with their peers. My experience in education includes 20+ years at the high school level. I've taught regular ed, special ed, honors, advanced placement and ELL students and sponsored students in the past as a UIL coach. I've also been part of an administrative team. Most of my teaching experience includes teaching in the English Department; however, I have also taught classes that instruct students on how to prepare to be teachers. It has always been a pleasure to work with students, parents, administration and the community to impart knowledge on our valued clients - the students. My educational background includes a Bachelors in English and a Masters in Administration and Supervision. I am AP trained and GT certified.
